Indiana Jones Movies Suddenly Depart Disney+ (And Are Now Streaming on a Surprising Rival)

Ever since Disney purchased Lucasfilm, the Indiana Jones films have become a staple for fans of the Mouse House. There are rides based on the iconic Steven Spielberg/George Lucas collaboration at Disney Parks, more merch than you probably ever imagined, and steady availability to stream the Indiana Jones film franchise on Disney+. Without much warning, however, that last point changed, and Disney+ users discovered on Wednesday that most of the films with Harrison Ford’s beloved explorer are no longer on the service.

Recently, the four Spielberg-directed Indiana Jones movies disappeared from the Disney+ lineup. If you look on the streaming service right now, the only title from the franchise you’ll find is 2023’s Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, which is the only film in the series actually distributed by Walt Disney. The four previous installments came from Paramount.

Where to Stream Indiana Jones

Perhaps the most surprising element of this streaming departure is where the Indiana Jones movies popped up after leaving Disney+. Raiders of the Lost Ark, Temple of Doom, The Last Crusade, and Kingdom of the Crystal Skull have all started streaming on Prime Video. That’s surprising because, most of the time, the Indiana Jones franchise bounces around between Disney+ and Paramount+, along with some stints on the Paramount-owned free service Pluto TV.

This is one of the rare occasions where the core Indiana Jones movies aren’t on either of their usual streaming platforms. Interestingly enough, the same thing happened last year at exactly the same time. On October 1, 2024, the Indiana Jones movies released prior to Dial of Destiny all disappeared from Disney+ and popped up on Prime Video’s lineup in the United States.

If history is any indication, this move will only last a couple of months. After departing Disney+ last October, the Indiana Jones films returned to the service at the start of January 2025. So it appears Prime Video has some kind of deal in place to be the exclusive streaming home of Paramount’s Indiana Jones titles at the end of every year. Once January rolls around, the titles will likely pop back up on the Disney+ lineup.

Unlike the movies, the spinoff TV series The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles has been absent from streaming services for some time. The episodes were available to stream alongside the movies on Disney+ a while back, but they haven’t been there for at least the past year. There’s been no word as to whether the show will ever come back to Disney+ for another streaming stint.
