Director J.A. Bayona and producer/writer Colin Trevorrow have been knee deep in production with stars Bryce Dallas Howard, Chris Pratt, and B.D. Wong for the sequel to one of the most successful films of 2015.
Rumors indicate that InGen’s secret to genetic tinkering success might have gotten in the wrong handsโas seen in the end of Jurassic Worldโand now the dinosaurs could be used for not-so altruistic means.
These rumors line-up with Trevorrow’s own comments about the sequel focusing on animal rights and ethical quandaries posed by creating life, pushing the themes of the original film into an interesting and natural direction. And while the film seems to be pushing forward into new ground, it’s also paying homage to the original film in interesting ways.
Trevorrow’s latest photo from the set of Jurassic World 2 hints at a visual callback to one of the most infamous scenes from the first film.

Jurassic World ended with events that most assuredly shut down the original park. How does a theme park bounce back after a safety and PR debacle like that? But it hinted that the time of engineering dinosaurs is not over and that they would instead be used in military campaigns.
It looks like whatever nefarious group got their hands on the tech, be it a PMC or a government agency, has the funds to give Dr. Henry Wu the tools he needs to do it right. The incubator looks more sterile and hands off than the one from the original film, adding to the idea that these are not pets or animals for kids to fawn overโthese are weapons.
We’ll learn more about Jurassic World 2 as it approaches its release date of June 22, 2018.
