Releasing a solid horror film is already difficult enough, but producing three consecutive horror movies that are consistently good is no easy feat. Film series like Sam Raimiโs Evil Dead trilogy and Ti Westโs X trilogy have been among the few that have managed to get it right. As horror fans begin to curate their Halloween movie marathons this October, they can now add one of the best horror trilogies of all time to the list after it arrived on three separate streaming platforms.

Wes Cravenโs original Scream trilogy โ Scream, Scream 2, and Scream 3 โ is now easier than ever to stream after all three films arrived on Hulu, Paramount+, and Peacock on October 1st. The movies, written by Kevin Williamson before Ehren Kruger took over for the third installment, center around the masked killer Ghost Face and star Neve Campbell as Sidney Prescott, Courteney Cox as Gale Weathers, and David Arquette as Dewey Riley. Fans wanting to binge-watch the entire franchise can stream all six Scream movies on Paramount+, while Scream 4 is also available on Peacock, Tubi, and AMC+, and Scream 5 can also be streamed on Hulu.
Why You Should Watch the Original Scream Trilogy
The original Scream film arrived at a time when the horror genre, and especially the slasher subgenre, was in a massive slump. Through a clever deconstruction of horror tropes and meta-commentary on movies delivered through Williamsonโs witty and well-penned script, Scream managed to successfully revitalize the genre and become a cultural phenomenon, making an iconic villain out of Ghost Face and an iconic Final Girl out of Sidney. The movie still holds up to this day, and the entire Scream franchise, particularly the original trilogy, remains one of the strongest horror franchises to date that is endlessly rewatchable.
While itโs not uncommon for sequels to fumble, the original Scream trilogy as a whole is an incredibly well-connected and cohesive series that constantly reinvents itself through its use of meta-commentary that adapts to the horror and media landscape of its respective era, all while maintaining a consistent story and returning characters that make it easy to get attached to them. The well-crafted whodunit plot at the center of each story keeps viewers guessing who is behind the Ghost Face mask, each movie packing its own memorable twists and bloody suspense, including the great “movie within a movie” concept introduced in Scream 3, which happens to be the lowest-rated movie in the franchise with a 45% criticsโ rating on Rotten Tomatoes.
Other Horror Movies Now Streaming in October
The original Scream trilogy is far from the only horror movie that is now streaming. Hulu subscribers can now stream horror hits including the first seven Saw movies and Barbarian. Over at Paramount+, 30 Days of Night, The Evil Dead (1981), and Urban Legend are all now streaming as of October 1st. The Peacock streaming library is now stocked with horror titles such as The Crow, Fright Night, Ouija: Origin Of Evil, and almost the complete Leprechaun franchise.
