Power Rangers Sequel Hopes Continue To Dim
Fans have been a bit worried about the possibilities of a Power Rangers sequel after it debuted to less than stellar stateside box office, but now those fears have increased thanks to well under debut in China.
Estimates had been adjusted after the film's $1.5 million opening
To date, the film has only amassed $84 million, and the worldwide total is currently reported as $135 million. Taking the film's $100 million budget and extensive marketing campaigns into account, it will need to do extremely well at retail to justify a sequel, and even then some tweaks would undoubtedly be made to bring the budget down. The action-packed, coming of age feature film Saban’s Power Rangers will morph onto Digital HD June 13 and on 4K Ultra HD Combo Pack (plus Blu-ray and Digital HD), Blu-ray Combo Pack (plus DVD and Digital HD), DVD and On Demand June 27 from Lionsgate.
