Knights of the Roundtable... In Disguise

The expanded Transformers lore in The Last Knight reaches back to Medieval Times to chronicle how King Arthur and his legendary Knights of the Round Table defeated the barbaric Saxons in the Dark Ages... with help from the Transformers.
As the film tells it, Arthur's sorcerer adviser Merlin was actually a con artist drunk, who happened to know that a team of Transformers were stranded on Earth after their ship crashed. The Transformers team was comprised of twelve Autobots who patterned themselves after Medieval Knights, and could combine into a fearsome three-headed dragon. These Autobots became the secret members of the Arthurian Round Table, standing behind the famous Knights of Legend (Lancelot, Gawain, Percival, etc...).
After Arthur and Merlin's time ends, the twelve Transformers Knights go dormant in their ship, waiting for a "Thirteenth Knight" that will supposedly arrive to restore them.

In the opening of The Last Knight, Cade Yeager (Mark Wahlberg) stumbles upon a crashed ship in the Chicago quarantine zone - a ship containing the prophesied Thirteenth Knight.
With his dying breath, the Transformers knight gives Cade a Cybertronian talisman of great power; the talisman can help locate and unlock the powerful weapon the Transformers Knights were hiding on Earth - and it also acts like a sentient weapon, able to transform into armor, a sword or other weapons.
As Bumblebee and the Autobot allies discover, it is Cade who is in fact "The Last Knight" - chosen for his bravery, loyalty, and chastity (it becomes a running joke that Cade hasn't gotten any in "awhile"). Using his newfound power, Cade helps Merlin's descendant Vivian Wembley (Laura Haddock) defeat Transformers creator Quintessa, before she can use Merlin's staff and the Knights' ship to drain earth (aka "Unicron") dry of its energy.
