With zombies overtaking Riverdale, it's easy enough to liken Afterlife With Archie to The Walking Dead--but probably a more apt comparison would be Evil Dead (since it involves the Necronomicon) or Stephen King's Pet Sematary. That's because, as it turns out, the cause of the zombie apocalypse in Riverdale is the death of Hot Dog, Jughead Jones's beloved pet--and his desire to bring the dog back from beyond the grave. That's an interesting thing, of course, since Afterlife With Archie writer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa is possibly best known within the comics community as the writer who adapted King's The Stand. It seems likely, then, that the King connection is no coincidence. This is a cool book, from the look of it--certainly we've never seen the Riverdale Gang interacting with Sabrina the Teenage Witch quite like we do here. Check out the preview pages below (via Buzzfeed). Afterlife With Archie #1 is due in stores tomorrow.
