French actress Ariane Labed has been cast in the forthcoming Assassin's Creed movie, according to Deadline.
The 31-year-old actress is taking on the role that Alicia Vikander (Ex Machina) was in contention for until she dropped out to do the next Bourne film. Labed is known for her award-winning performances in Yorgos Lanthimos’ The Lobster and Athina Rachel Tsangari’s Attenberg. Assassin's Creed will be her first mainstream film.
The Assassin’s Creed movie is based on Ubisoft's popular video game series chronicles a war, that spans generations, between assassins. It will be directed by Justin Kurzel and star Michael Fassbender (X-Men: Apocalypse) and Marion Cotillard (The Dark Knight Rises).
Assassin’s Creed will open in theaters December 21, 2016.
