Lando Calrissian

While Carrie Fisher has taught us that sometimes former Star Wars cast members are joking when they tell fans and reporters they are returning for Star Wars Episode 7, there is new report out that Billy Dee Williams confirmed to a fan that he has been asked to return. According to Film Buff Online, Billy Dee Williams told a fan at the Monster Mania convention in New Jersey this past weekend that he had been asked to return for Star Wars Episode 7, but he hadn't decided if he was going to do it or not. What's interesting about this report is that Movies.com recently reported that at Emerald City Comic-Con that Billy Dee Williams had not been contacted by Disney yet to reprise his role as Lando Calrissian in Star Wars Episode 7. They also reported that he said he would be glad to reprise his role, and his representative even asked fans to start writing, tweeting and emailing Disney requesting his return. So did the campaign to get Disney to call Billy Dee Williams prove to be so effective that Disney called him in the week between Emerald City Comic-Con and Monster Mania? And if so, then why would Billy Dee Williams say he wasn't sure about returning? Assuming that the new report of Billy Dee Williams being asked to return is correct, it could be that he's not allowed to actually say whether he is returning or not until Disney makes the announcement.
