Earlier this week, 20th Century Fox hosted their CinemaCon2015 event, showcasing upcoming films this year and beyond.

Before the event, ComicBook.com had the chance to speak with the cast of the Fantastic 4 - Miles Teller, Michael B. Jordan, Kate Mara, and Jamie Bell.

----

CB: Are you fans of the comics? Were you reading them before the roles?

Miles Teller: Yeah.

Michael B. Jordan: Well, he wasn't so much--

Miles Teller: I didn't really read comic books growing up. I think I collected them because I saw a TV show and it looked like a cool thing to do, but once you're cast and you're playing a character... I think any time you're playing a real-life person, anytime I've had the opportunity to play a real-life person, and I consider Reed Richards a very much real life person because there's such a history there, people know so much about him, that there is a responsibility to inundate yourself with as much  information as you can. I'd feel pretty foolish if I was up there with no knowledge of what was going on.

CB: Sure. Would you guys like to see a crossover with the X-Men franchise?

Kate Mara: We hope so!

Jamie Bell: Totally!

Kate Mara: That would be awesome.

Is this film different from the other Fantastic Four films? Is there comedy? What would you say?

Michael B. Jordan: I feel like some of this film is pretty grounded in reality. Compared to the other films, I feel like it's more of an origin story. We get a chance to take these characters from the accident, where we don't get our powers until afterwards, so it's a nice coming of age.

Jamie Bell: Josh Trank has described it as dark Amblin.

CB: Can you say how many movies you signed on for?

Kate Mara: More than one.

Miles Teller: Usually when you sign on for something like this, it's like three or four. Honestly, usually that's what the contract is.

The Fantastic Four are super heroes, they are comic book characters, but in the comic books there is a strong element of sci-fi. Can we expect a little bit of that?

Miles Teller: I think that's probably what separates our film from lumping in the shadow of super hero films that seem to be coming out in loads every summer. With ours, I think we take the physics and the science fiction aspects of it very seriously. Yeah, I think it comes with a nice grounding or more seriousness than some of the other ones. Josh [Trank] has compared it to some Cronenberg stuff. I think just the vibe from the trailer, that's the only footage we've seen from it. It's a little heavier on the science fiction than the other super hero franchises.

The Fantastic Four are more of a super hero team than a family. Are you guys becoming a real family off screen?

Miles Teller: Yeah! We bought a house in Malibu together.

Jamie Bell: No, we hate each other, actually. Can't stand each other.
