Jason Sudeikis Talks Acting, History, and More!

Comicbook.com's Adam Goldberg recently had a sit-down with Jason Sudeikis, who plays coach Larry Synder in his new Jesse Owens centered film Race

One of the subplots going on in the life of Larry Snyder was that he had a drinking problem during this time with Jesse Owens, and Sudeikis explained how he brought nuance to that part of the character.

I probably made him a little less visibly drunk than usual because I feel like back in those days men didn't share their emotions and were a little more guarded. Also probably had a real high tolerance

The Nazi's have a visible presence in the film, so it made sense to go into why that symbolism and time in history lives on so much in the American psyche. It is also sadly relevant due to the current political climate. Here is what Sudeikis had to say on the subject.

I think historically we pay attention to all those things that we want to learn from. It's relevant because between the swastika and Hitlers mustache it has some pretty memorable iconography. But I think that the evil it represents and the hatred it represents and the close-mindedness it represents is something that we should remind ourselves that is something we should never revisit again.
