Warner Bros. have tapped May 26, 2017 as the release date for their follow-up to this winter's biggest animated hit, The Lego Movie. The studio made the announcement today, just hours after the film officially passed $200 million at the global box office. Girl Most Likely's Michelle Morgan will join Wreck-It Ralph's Jared Stern to write the script. Presently, none of the star-studded cast is confirmed to return, but it's likely many of them will, since the upside to a big box office hit like this is enhanced by having it be voice work, which is often less demanding and easier to work around than live-action work for all but the principal leads. The Lego Movie, which featured DC Comics heroes alongside a number of other licensed properties, original Lego characters and God, continues to thrive at the box office, and there are Lego Movie-branded kids' events planned at Barnes & Noble stores next week.
