Maisie Richardson-Sellers

Maisie Richardson-Sellers is being considered for a role in Star Wars Episode VII, according to a report from the Hollywood Reporter. Richardson-Sellers is an Oxford-educated actor with no film experience, the definition of an "unknown." The casting team for Star Wars Episode VII has, reportedly, been searching London for talented actors to join the cast. The rumor is that Richardson-Sellers is up for the key role of a black or mixed-race, female Jedi Knight, possibly a descendant of Obi-Wan "Ben" Kenobi. That last bit is particularly interesting, if true. The idea that Obi-Wan Kenobi has descendants would have to mean that Anakin Skywalker wasn't the only one breaking the Jedi code back in the day. That could potentially cast Kenobi's role and relationship with his padawan in a whole new light. The report states the Richardson-Sellers' character would come into contact with the children of Han Solo and Leia Organa (and maybe even Luke Skywalker). While still unconfirmed, there have been other rumors that director J.J. Abrams is seeking out mixed race and black actors to play major roles in Episode VII in order to create a more diverse cast than what was seen in previous Star Wars movies. Some filming has already begun on Star Wars Episode VII and production is set to go into full gear in May. Star Wars Episode VII is schedule for theatrical release on December 18, 2015.
