J. J. Abrams has met with Academy Award-winner Lupita Nyong'o about the prospect of starring in Star Wars Episode VII, according The Hollywood Reporter. Nyong'0, who recently scored the Best Supporting Actress Oscar for 12 Years a Slave, reportedly took the meeting with Abrams a few weeks ago, just before the Academy Awards ceremony. She previously had a role in the MTV series Shuga but her feature film debut was in 12 Years a Slave. THR says that because the production is so shrouded in secrecy, they can't get a bead on what role Nyong'o may have met with Abrams for, but they speculate that she could be a descendent of Obi-Wan Kenobi, as that long-rumored character is not expected to be cast with a caucasian actor. Recently, reports came out that the studio hoped to diversify a galaxy far, far away, but some fans have been predictably edgy about the prospect of Luke Skywalker's children being non-white since the Expanded Universe stories available in novels and comics have never depicted them as such.
