Dan Slott has been ambushing readers of Amazing Spider-Man with a lot of big, surprise endings recently and, all along the way, he hasn't wanted anyone spoiling it for him. So when Superior Spider-Man #1 leaked last night and spoilers started inundating the Internet, we were good little boys and girls and didn't look. ...But then, the minute we could get our hands on a copy, we knew we had to devour the sucker before somebody spoiled it for us. As such, we're giving you all of that paragraph, and all of this one, as spoiler space, because the spoiler in Superior Spider-Man #1 is the biggest shock since...well, since Amazing Spider-Man #700. But still, even if that hadn't happened recently, it would be a big shock. Well, maybe "shock" isn't the right word, since, we told you the whole Superior thing wouldn't last, and then Kevin Smith told you later that same day.

That's right, folks, Peter Parker is back! Sort of. That's him, rocking the Obi-Wan Kenobi look from Return of the Jedi. Appearing at the last moment to prevent Dr. OctoSpidey from killing a villain, Peter can't be seen or heard by Otto, but pledges to retake his life from Ock, who is not acting nearly as much like a hero as you'd like under the circumstances, and given the line fans were fed at the end of Amazing Spider-Man #700. Speaking of the Amazing Spider-Man -- a valuable title in comics and even more mainstream now that it's been the title of a feature film -- it's worth noting the in the intro page at the beginning of the issue, Doc Ock is referred to as the Superior Spider-Man, while Peter is referred to as the Spectacular Spider-Man. With the likelihood that there will be at least one more new Marvel NOW! title announced for April, what do you think are the odds we get a Peter Parker, The Spectacular Spider-Man #1? Better now than they were a week ago, that's for certain. Superior Spider-Man #1 is on the stands today.
