The Walking Dead #123 Spoiler: Shocking Ending

The Walking Dead #123Spoiler Warning:

If you haven't read The Walking Dead #123 yet, then be warned that this article contains spoilers for what happens in the issue. If you weren't planning on picking up The Walking Dead #123, then you might want to reconsider, because the "All Out War" storyline is shaking up the comic book world of The Walking Dead. It's one of Kirkman's most fascinating storylines yet.

The Walking Dead #123 ends in one of those good old-fashioned cliffhangers, where it leaves you eagerly anticipating the next issue. One of the biggest questions that fans have been debating both in regards to the comic book series and the TV series is if Rick Grimes, the central character in both the comics and TV show, would ever be killed off. Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman has repeatedly teased that no one is safe in the world of The Walking Dead, and killing Rick Grimes is just the sort of thing that he might do in order to make people realize that he isn't kidding.

Here's your second chance to look away before the spoiler.

At the end of The Walking Dead #123, Negan and his gang attack Rick and his group. Under orders from Negan, Dwight shoots Rick Grimes with one of his bolts (arrows). The bolt strikes Rick in the side, so in itself, it's not a kill shot. However, Negan had also ordered his men to dirty up their arrows with walker guts. If Dwight's bolt was mucked up with walker stuff, then it could spell the end for Rick, regardless of where the arrow hit him. As Negan puts it, "Rick's as good as dead--and without him, they're nothing."

Of course, the obvious out is that Dwight might have secretly shot Rick with a bolt that wasn't mucked up. However, fans will have to wait until next issue to find out if Rick is going to live or die.
