TWD Dwight

When characters on The Walking Dead don't kill potential enemies, it usually comes back to haunt them. This will probably be the case with Dwight, a character who Daryl Dixon protected only to be crossed by.

Dwight is one of Negan's Saviors in the comics. He is best known for his badly scarred face as a result of acting out against Negan. When men act out against the ruthless leader, one of Negan's methods of punishment is to burn their face with a hot iron, leaving a permanent mark for the rest of the group to see.

It seems at this point in the TV series, we've already seen Dwight committing his act which Negan disapproves of. It was his attempted escape seen in Always Accountable. Based on the events of Not Tomorrow Yet, he was caught. Daryl's bike was at the Compound which means Dwight was.

Eventually, Dwight defects against Negan and helps the Alexandrians during their war with Negan. He does, however, cost an Alexandrian their life prior to the flip.

At one point, Dwight uses a cross bow to kill Abraham while he is out on a supply run with Eugene. The arrow slices through the back of Abe's head and through his eye while he is talking about his recent break up with Rosita. Will this happen to Abraham on the show? We can only hope not but the preview for tonight's new episode shows that the two are outside of the walls together. Considering Dwight has Daryl's crossbow, all of the pieces are in place.

Daryl's kind offer of help back in the first half of season six could be what leads Dwight to help the Alexandrians in the war against the Saviors but also serve as an interesting plot point where Daryl won't trust him, having already been crossed. If you listened closely, while Daryl was floating in and out of consciousness in Always Accountable, he said, "He's probably just a soldier from one of the outposts. He probably hates him, too," which is most likely a reference to Negan, also confirming Dwight's involvement with The Saviors.

In any case, the next time we meet Dwight, he won't be a good guy. We should be prepared, too, because not only will he likely appear again before Negan is introduced, but the fact that Carol and Daryl are talking about Dwight in the sneak peek for Twice As Far gives us reason to believe he'll be back.

Update: Sunday, March 20 at 10 PM (SPOILERS FROM EPISODE 614)

Sunday night's episode of The Walking Dead, Twice As Far, marked the return of a character we were introduced to in the first half of the sixth season. During his encounter in the woods with Daryl, the blonde thief who took Mr. Dixon's bike and bow remained nameless. However, in the latest episode, he revealed his name to be "D" or "Dwight."

Upon his re-entrance, he really made one heck of a new impression. He shot an arrow through the back of Denise's head and straight through her eye. First of all, that death belonged to Abraham in The Walking Dead comics, though still from the hands of Dwight. So, that could mean Dwight may be a bit different on TV than he was in the comics but, then again, most characters and events also vary a bit, anyway.

The Walking Dead airs Sundays at 9 PM ET on AMC.
