Tim Dekay has been cast as Senator Maynard Ward, Grant Ward's older brother, in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., according to Zap2It. Dekay will debut as the character in the sixth episode of Season 2, titled "A Fractured Rose."

Is it possible that Maynard Ward is the senator with "deep pockets" and a desire to see Coulson captured the General Glenn Talbot mentioned in "Heavy is the Head?" That remains to be seen, but it does seem like a good possibility. But why? Is he with Hydra, or just anti-S.H.I.E.L.D.? Maybe he's completely self-motivated and looking for a political push, or maybe he just wants to get to his little brother.

In the first season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Grant Ward remembered his brother as being abusive and sadistic. Maynard would often force Grant to abuse their third, youngest brother. Maynard supposedly once left the youngest brother in a well and would not allow Grant to help him out

It was Maynard's abuse that drove Grant to burn down their family's home, with Maynard inside. Maynard survived and pressed charges against his brother, which landed Grant in juvenile detention. It's there that Grant was found by John Garret and put on the path to becoming a Hydra double agent within S.H.I.E.L.D.

Dekay is best known for his role as Peter Burke in White Collar, which is finishing out its run beginning this November.
