Context is everything in a movie, and that dramatically changes when you replace a firearm with the most loved/hated thing next to a Furby, that being a selfie stick.

Thanks to a Tumblr account called fittingly “guns replaced with selfie sticks” (via Nerdcore), scenes of conflict and violence are now vastly different thanks to a swift selfie stick replacement. Films like The Night of the Hunter show Lilian Gish as not a threatening presence, but rather as someone who simply wants help in understanding the newest trend.

The Deer Hunter’s Robert De Niro doesn’t want to hurt anyone, but rather is snapping a few pics for his upcoming reality show. John Wayne (Stage Coach) decided to take a break and snap a quick photo for his scrapbook, which also comes with its own cowboy hat and holster.

In some cases though it seems detrimental. I don’t know how far Indiana Jones (The Temple of Doom) is going to get with just a whip and a selfie stick. Sure he’s going to get some great shots, but it isn’t going to do much good in a firefight. As for that scene from Full Metal Jacket, it somehow makes it even worse that he somehow killed a guy with a selfie stick rather than a gun. It doesn’t sit well in my mind.

Oh, and someone give credit to Samuel L. Jackson (The Hateful Eight). The expression on his face is priceless, and having to act that impressed at a selfie stick rather than a gun is just acting at its finest.
