The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers have always been extremely popular, including the beloved Yellow Ranger.
The character was played by two different actresses in Mighty Morphin's three seasons, and both brought something unique and charismatic to the role. The first was Thuy Trang, who played the role of Trini Kwan. The second was Karan Ashley, who played the part of Aisha Campbell and was given the power of the Yellow Ranger by Trini herself.
Over the years, the Yellow Ranger has had a number of remarkable moments, but there are a few that stand out above the rest. Whether showcasing the character's combat prowess, compassion, or intelligence, all of these moments illustrate why the Yellow Ranger is so popular after all these years.
Episode Title: High Five
Season 1 Episode 2
Sometimes the toughest enemies come from within, and that assuredly turned out to be the case in the second episode of the series.
The Rangers were still trying to get used to their powers, especially when not morphed. Rita took advantage of this flaw by sending a monster named Bones down to earth to take on the Rangers, along with a Putty army at his side.
In an effort to disperse the massive group, the Rangers split up, including Trini and Billy. Trini is able to escape her group, but Billy gets cornered up on a high cliff. Billy then makes matters even worse by dropping his Morpher and screams for help as the Putty threatens to push him off the cliff.
The unfortunate part is that Trini has a very real fear of heights, but braves it anyway to climb up the cliff and save Billy, overcoming the Putty by tricking it into falling off the ledge.
Just goes to show that you can always count on Trini. You can view the full video here.
Trini Uses The Black Dragon
Mighty Morphin Power Rangers #16
In the final issue of the Lord Drakkon arc, Tommy and Billy are still stuck in the dark universe. The resistance is about to fall to his armies, but he still wants Billy's morpher, the only one he doesn't yet have.
In our reality, Trini is currently being held by two guards in front of Rita, who has created an army of Goldars that are slowly overwhelming the Rangers. It turns out though that both Trini's have a plan to turn the tables, starting with the Blue Ranger's morpher.
Dark Universe Trini is able to get close to Drakkon, unleashing an energy wave from the morpher that hits Drakkon and his army. In the other reality, Rita has rigged her headquarters with teleportation dampeners, but as Trini points out, it doesn't keep other things from coming in.
In their battle earlier with the Black Dragon (essentially Lord Drakkon's Zord), Trini programmed the armor to sync to her in the case of an emergency. This would definitely qualify, so Trini beckons it and dons the full armor, allowing her to take down Rita's guards and take back the Blue Ranger's power coin from their reality.
Trini always has a backup plan, regardless of what universe she comes from.prevnext
Trini Vs The Mantis
Episode: Plague Of The Mantis
Season 1 Episode 48
Later in the first season, it was Trini's time to shine yet again, this time against Rita's latest creation the Mantis monster.
As she states in the episode, Trini is a fan of fair play. That's why it hurts so much when the Mantis challenge's Trini's honor, as she is actually studying the Mantis style of martial arts at the time.
After a brief fight with the Mantis, the Mantis challenges the Yellow Ranger to a one on one duel. Trini doesn't believe he'll keep his bargain but takes the fight on anyway. They spar for a while until Trini gets the best of him, and that's when he calls in the Putties, breaking his promise.
That doesn't stop her though, as Trini takes down the Putties and goes at him again, hitting him in several key weak points until the other Rangers arrive to take him down together.
The odds were stacked against her, but even that can't keep Trini down for long.prevnext
Episode: Zedd Waves
Season 2 Episode 26
After the baton was passed to Aisha, the Yellow Ranger still continued to bail the rest of the Power Rangers out from time to time.
That included the time the Rangers went against the Beamcaster, who managed to put everyone into a trance. Unfortunately, that came to include the other Power Rangers, including Tommy, who all started shouting "Hail Lord Zedd!"
Aisha, Rocky, and Adam, who aren't full on Rangers just yet, manage to hunt down an old device that Billy made, and Aisha uses her tech know-how to retool it. The modified device now has the ability to cancel out the frequency of Boomcaster's signal, and the other Rangers were free of his control.
It goes to show that sometimes brains beats brawn.prevnext
The Hate Master
Episode: Stop The Hate Master
Season 3 Episodes 12 and 13
Aisha came to the team's rescue once again in a fight against Rita and Lord Zedd's Hate Master.
In the initial fight, the Hate Master was able to bring out the Ranger's worst qualities, exposing them to his raps that would fill them with hate and disgust. Aisha was not with the team during their first encounter though, as she was visiting her grandmother.
While Alpha 5 tried to find a way to rid the other Rangers of their hate, Aisha faced the Hate Master alone and was able to resist his attacks thanks to a locket given to her by her grandmother. She avoided being consumed thanks to remembering her grandmother's words, and the locket turned out to be the key in restoring the other Rangers.
Love will always triumph over hate.prevnext
