Almost immediately after the first trailer for The Last Jedi premiered at Star Wars Celebration in April, fans were counting down the seconds until they'd get to see another trailer. With the announcement that Star Wars would be skipping San Diego Comic-Con, fans assumed the D23 Expo would certainly be the place to catch some new footage. Collider, however, claims that a new trailer won't be debuted at the Expo, but we can anticipate behind-the-scenes footage being shown.

Considering the track record of the recent Star Wars films, this hypothesis lines up with both The Force Awakens and Rogue One.
In 2015, Comic-Con saw the release of an all-new featurette about The Force Awakens, including an event in which fans got to see a concert featuring live music from the series. Last year, Star Wars Celebration debuted Rogue One behind-the-scenes footage in July to prepare fans for its December release.
Recently, a new The Last Jedi trailer was classified by the British Board of Film Classification, which led many to assume it was for a trailer that would debut at an upcoming fan event. It's possible that this trailer could premiere at D23 in addition to behind-the-scenes featurette, or possibly that the trailer could debut in a less extravagant manner.
The initial teaser for The Last Jedi barely satiated fans, as it mostly comprised of a variety of disconnected shots and sequences, which was similar to the first trailer for The Force Awakens. The big difference between these two films is that the teaser for The Force Awakens came more than a year before the film's release while The Last Jedi's teaser debuted merely seven months before it's due in theaters.
Regardless of what will or will not be shown of The Last Jedi in the near future, it's safe to say fans are far more interested in seeing any images or footage of the upcoming Han Solo movie, as the recent director shake-up has many fans worried that the film could be in rough shape.
The Last Jedi lands in theaters December 15.
