The comedy, now in its second season, centers around the frazzled DiMeo family who rally around JJ (Micah Fowler), who lives with non-verbal cerebral palsy.
In "S-T–STAR W–WARS W–ARS," determined mom Maya (Minnie Driver) lands two tickets to the Star Wars: The Last Jedi red carpet premiere, promising a glorious night for JJ and brother Ray (Mason Cook) — until JJ is pulled to the dark side by a pretty classmate who hopes to take Ray's ticket.
The episode first aired Wednesday, December 6 and is available to watch online.
Speechless, produced in part by Disney-owned ABC Studios, is the latest piece of synergy promoting Disney-owned Lucasfilm's Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Disney's multiple theme parks added the never-before-visited planet Crait from the film to their worldwide Star Tours rides and the most recent trailer was debuted on Disney-owned ESPN in October.
Speechless airs Wednesdays at 8:30/7:30c on ABC.
The first reactions from Star Wars: The Last Jedi released online Sunday night, and the Rian Johnson-directed film could be the highest-rated Star Wars movie yet.
Starring Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Benicio del Toro, Laura Dern, Carrie Fisher and Mark Hamill, Star Wars: The Last Jedi opens December 15.
