Carrie Fisher Wants a Purple Lightsaber in Star Wars

Carrie Fisher is doing a press tour for her latest book, The Princess Diarist, a non-fiction look back at the diaries she kept while filming the original Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope. Along with reprints of her actual diary entries, which include the revelation that she and the married (not to his current wife) Harrison Ford had a months-long affair while shooting the film, Fisher offers her signature dry and in-your-face wit and commentary to the book.

While on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert Monday night, she made a lot of jokes, offered up a lot of regrets, and of course, talked a bit about Star Wars. The actor will next be seen in Star Wars: Episode VIII, 2017's follow-up to Star Wars: The Force Awakens where she, Ford, and Mark Hamill returned to their roles of thirty years past as Leia, Han Solo, and Luke Skywalker, respectively. Colbert asked her why she didn't get a lightsaber despite being Force-sensitive in the films.

"You know, it's that whole women - it's a bad thing for women. Even in space, there's a double standard. Even with the Force," she said. She joked that it was just one of the injustices Leia faced, as she was also not comforted when her whole planet was destroyed, including her "mother, father, her record collection, all her clothes." "It was very sad for me," she said.

As far as what lightsaber color she would like, she went the Mace Windu (Samuel L. Jackson's Jedi master in the Prequel Trilogy) route.

"Purple. That's in the book, too," she said. Maybe we'll see a purple lightsaber in Episode VIII, then.

In the video above, she also gives fans some (obviously fake) "other Star Wars revelations." Those include that they cut off Mark Hamill's hand as a prank, and they kept it in the movie, that Peter Mayhew grew out the Chewbacca hair in 9 hours, that John Williams' score was covering up Fisher's humming of "Kung Fu Fighting" and more.

"You know who actually had the most sex of the whole cast? The Ewoks. They screwed like rabbits. It's true, their trailer had to be hosed out twice a day. It was disgusting," she joked.
