Amongst the many, many Rogue One: A Star Wars Story toys, one of the pivotal characters was missing: Galen Erso. The story of Rogue One quite literally revolves around Galen, as he's been tasked with designing the weapon for the Empire's superweapon, the Death Star, but under duress. Through Imperial pilot Bodhi Rook, he manages to contact the Rebel Alliance and his daughter Jyn, giving them their call to action. Now, the issue of the missing figure has been rectified, as actor Mads Mikkelsen revealed on his official instagram early Thursday morning.
The figure is part of Hasbro's 3.75" Star Wars line, and features Galen Erso in his Imperial Research outfit. Seen in the second act of the film, while Galen is working at a research facility on the Outer Rim planet Eadu, the shoulder of the uniform is adorned with the Crystalline Symbol patch, meant to represent a faceted kyber crystal, and the insignia of "The Tarkin Initiative," the official name for the facility.
The Erso figure comes with a blaster pistol, a grappel slider (presumably for use with the AT-ACT toy), and best of all, a MSE-series mouse droid! There are benefits to being an Imperial after all.
Hasbro did not release pricing or availability for the figure, though it should be on the way soon.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is in theaters now. Directed by Gareth Edwards, it's the first of the new standalone features from Lucasfilm and Disney, which take place outside the core "Skywalker Saga" of films noted by an Episode number. Rogue One tells the story of the small band of rebels that were tasked with stealing the plans to the first Death Star. The story spins directly off the opening crawl from the original Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope. In that crawl, it read: "Rebel spaceships, striking from a hidden base, have won their first victory against the evil Galactic Empire. During the battle, Rebel spies managed to steal secret plans to the Empire's ultimate weapon, the DEATH STAR, an armored space station with enough power to destroy an entire planet."
