Star Wars fans across the world are currently feeling every emotion about the new Star Wars: The Last Jedi trailer - even a certain four-legged friend.

The official Instagram account of Gary, the French bulldog owned by the late Carrie Fisher, recently shared a rather poignant photo. In it, Gary can be seen watching the Last Jedi trailer, particularly a moment where Fisher was onscreen as General Leia Organa.

This photo is sure to tug at fans' heartstrings, considering the dynamic that Fisher had with her companion. The pair were basically inseparable, sparking plenty of adorable and heartwarming moments in recent years.

In the months since Fisher's tragic passing, Gary found a home with her daughter, Billie Lourd. As of March of this year, he now lives with Fisher's assistant, Corby McCoin.

The trailer for The Last Jedi has been the talk of the Internet since debuting on Monday night, with it boasting plenty of noteworthy moments. Leia's moment in the trailer has certainly impacted fans - something director Rian Johnson hopes will carry over into the film.

"I think Carrie gives a really beautiful performance in the film and… we obviously didn't make the movie to be her final film, final Star Wars movie," Johnson said earlier this year. "Given that though, I think there are scenes that she has that are going to mean a lot to people. There are scenes that we have with her where now, not having her around, I watch them and … I'm really thankful that we have that and we can that to people."

That should hopefully lessen the worries of some Star Wars - especially after the trailer hinted at a deadly altercation between Leia and Kylo Ren.

"This movie, it sends her off in a very amazing, amazing way." John Boyega, who plays Finn in the franchise, also revealed. "She's still kept alive in this franchise. She lives forever in a sense."

Star Wars: The Last Jedi opens in theaters December 15.
