Star Wars: Woody Harrelson Gives First New Detail on Han Solo Role

Yesterday, Woody Harrelson officially joined the cast of Han Solo: A Star Wars Story (not final title). The actor joined the project starring Alden Ehrenreich as the young Han Solo before he ever thought about joining the Rebel Alliance, Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian, and Emilia Clarke in an unnamed female lead. Harrelson's role remained unrevealed, as well, with the only hint being a report saying he'd be playing a mentor of sorts to Han in the film.

Well, Harrelson happened to be at Mashable for an interview yesterday, as spotted by Star Wars Junk, and they took the opportunity to at least ask one question about Han Solo. While the actor obviously has to hold things considerably close to the vest for the time being, he did confirm the "mentor" role, and offer up one more hint at his character.

"I'm a mentor to Han, but I'm also a bit of a criminal," he said. "I don't think I should say much more than that, because the Force is not allowing me." Um, Woody, that's not how the Force works, trust us, we heard it from Han himself.

It's not much to go on, but it is confirmation of the mentor, and a nod that he's also a criminal - does that really narrow things down? Not really, as Han's a bit of a criminal, too. Naturally, his mentor would have to be one, whether it's as a smuggler, or maybe even a pirate (some fans in the Star Wars community are hoping for a live-action Hondo Ohnaka, the space pirate from Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels here for Harrelson, though there has been no indication of his role being previously established in the mythos as of yet).
