Happy Birthday, Tom!
Tom Payne, best known for his portrayal of martial arts guru Jesus, on The Walking Dead, is turning 34 today.
After growing up in England, Payne attended the Central School of Speech and Drama to pursue a career in acting. He graduated the academy in 2005, and appeared in various theatrical productions around the country. The actor nabbed a starring role in a London production of Journey's End - a World War I drama - where Tom Hanks watched him perform and complimented him on his acting skills.
Payne started moving in to television acting, where he was given roles on programs like Waterloo Road, Skins, and Best: His Mother's Son. He went on to grab a featured role in the HBO drama Luck, but not until receiving his breakout performance on the big screen.
The actor starred as one of Amay Adams' three love interests in the romantic comedy Miss Pettigrew Lives For A Day. The role helped to launch Payne into the eye of other big players in the industry.
Recently, Payne was cast in the important role of Jesus on AMC's The Walking Dead. The character is one of the most skilled fighters on the show, and he ends up becoming a leader to his fellow survivors. Jesus first appeared in season six of The Walking Dead, and remains an important role in season seven.
Have a very happy birthday, Tom!
