The Walking Dead is loaded with survivors from various communities. One way or another, dozens of people have managed to dodge death which is lurking for them at every corner with threats of both zombies and humans never too far away.
These communities, however, would not be so established if not for the brave, well equipped survivors which have formed them. It's not the Nicholas, Spencer, or Noah types which provided the re-launching of civilization as the world once knew. It's the heroes who make the tough decision who get all of the credit.
If the dead were to take over the world as we know it, there are certain characters within The Walking Dead people would be better off keeping nearby than others...
Michonne has been one of the best equipped survivors from the start of the world's fall in the earliest days of The Walking Dead.
The hardened survivor had to watch her family die before her eyes. Instead of panicking or giving up, she used this as a tool to preserve her own life. Quickly, Michonne removed their jaws and arms so they would repel nearby zombies from her scent. Not to mention, she is skilled with a katana which is quite a handy weapon for putting down threats without making too much noise.
Michonne is a rational decision-maker. She sees priorities, identifies threats, and acts accordingly better than most characters on the series.
To top it all off, Michonne is the backbone of Rick's leadership in Alexandria. She is fully capable of leading a group of survivors and keeping the people around her safe, assuming you can make her care about you, at all!prevnext
As time passes, Carol only gets better equipped to survive the zombie apocalypse.
Sure, when the world fell, she was weaker than most and basically helpless outside of Atlanta. Quickly, though, that changed and Carol became the savior of the group who always came through when people needed saving or horribly difficult and sometimes immoral decisions had to be made.
While Carol may not want to care about people, she's going to. That means she is also going to protect those people.
Any group surviving the zombie apocalypse would be lucky to have Carol on their team. In fact, their survival would likely depend on it.prevnext
It goes without saying that Rick Grimes would be a great team leader in any apocalyptic situation.
Being a sheriff before the world fell apart provided him with the necessary skills to diffuse a troubling situation. However, the apocalypse itself has hardened him as he was forced to kill his best friend and learn that his son had to shoot his wife in a prison.
When it looks like there is no light at the end of the tunnel, Rick is the man survivors turn to for a plan. So far, he has managed to keep most of his people safe and appears to be one war away from launching a civilization people can live comfortably in.
Rick has the skills to talk his way out of a dangerous situation, if the enemy will listen, but also has the brains and abilities to come up with a feasible fighting plan which always keeps his group's best interest in mind. This man has made the tough-to-crack Daryl Dixon into a loyal friend and Father Gabriel into a man finally willing to kill to survive. He knows what he is doing and maintains a moral code in doing it!prevnext
Abraham Ford would be a powerful asset to any group of survivors in a zombie apocalypse.
The former soldier would be a living weapon. He acts with haste but often manages to execute his goals. If battle scenarios, Abraham can both spew orders to the people around him (which it would be in their best interest to follow) or take, execute, and enforce orders from another leaders.
While Abraham ultimately bowed out on , he survived for an impressive amount of time on his own and managed to protect a small group on the road, which seemed to be one of the most dangerous eras of the apocalypse.prevnext
Like it or not, Negan is a leader who has created a thriving community which has kept the people within it safe. In fact, Negan's Saviors have become such a thriving community that trade systems and laws have been put in place.
While the man himself is a bit of a brutal and violent showman, his acts are often to preserve the group which loyally serves him.
While his rise to leader of the Saviors has yet to be revealed on The Walking Dead television series, Negan impressively turned the hundreds of men and women in the Sanctuary into devout followers, servants, and soldiers. Living as one of the low-ranking survivors within his community may not be ideal but it is still living without the fear of death or rape, assuming you can follow the rules he has in place.prevnext
