FOX and Family Guy have released a tribute reel, over 8 minutes in length, celebrating the work of TV icon Adam West, who has played the mayor of the fictional town of Quahog on the series since 2000.
West, best known for his portrayal of Bruce Wayne and Batman in 1966, passed away in June at age 88 after a short battle with leukemia.
West played an off-kilter version of himself as mayor of Quahog as a recurring character on Family Guy, and will continue to appear in episodes in the upcoming season, which were recorded prior to his death.
Following West’s death on June 9 Family Guy creator and star Seth MacFarlane shared his thoughts.
“Family Guy has lost its mayor, and I have lost a friend,” MacFarlane said in a statement Tweeted out shortly after the news of West’s death broke. “Adam West was a joy to work
"He knew comedy, and he knew humanity. I am beyond fortunate to have had the privilege of working with him, and he will be profoundly missed by all of us. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all that you have given, Mr. Mayor. You’re irreplaceable.”
“Our dad always saw himself as The Bright
The highlight reel features nine minutes of footage from his years on Family Guy, and a brief statement that reads, “We’ll miss you dearly. Quahog couldn’t have had a better mayor. We couldn’t have had a better friend.”
