In the Civil War comic, Spider-Man plays a pivotal role, and is the crux for multiple changes throughout the story. The fact that he won't play as essential a role in the upcoming film is a bit disappointing, but it isn't really the film's fault, as they didn't have the shared rights until the movie was already underway.

That said, Peter will still play a part, we just aren't sure what exactly and on which side. While Spider-Man eventually ended up on Captain America's side in the comics, he started on Tony's. I'll be interested to see how they handle it. So far the only thing they have said is that he doesn't come into play until after sides are chosen (via Whatculture), and that he forms a friendship with one character in particular. Who that is though they aren't saying.

Hopefully we will get an actual look at Tom Holland in the costume soon. Whose side do you hope he is on? Let us know in the comments?
