Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice got a mixed reception from critics and fans, but almost everyone agreed on one thing: Gal Gadot and her Wonder Woman were the absolute stand-out of the film. That means that despite the poor critical response and likely less-than-hoped-for box office take for Batman v Superman, people are still looking forward to Wonder Woman in a big way.

The film recently got moved up in release date by three weeks, so the wait is a little bit shorter. Until then, we continue to get some teases about the tone and plot of the movie.

"It's very interesting," Gal Gadot told DigitalSpy while promoting BvS, "It has moments of humor, but it's pretty dark."

The character will have her "coming of age" in the film, and starts out "more naive," the star said.

"She's this young idealist. She's pure. Very different to the experienced, super-confident grown-up woman you've seen [in BvS]," explained Gadot.

That all fits well with what we already know about the movie, that it's an origin story with a dual setting of Themiscyra, the island home of the Amazons, and World War I Europe, where she'll get her first taste of "man's world." The war of wars is inherently going to be a "pretty dark" setting, of course, but it's nice to know we might see some bits of happiness and laughter along the way.

Wonder Woman is due to wrap principal photography soon as it preps for the new release date of June 2, 2017.
