It's been well documented that Suicide Squad actor Jared Leto went above and beyond in performing the role of Joker on set.

Now we have a much better idea of how the initial interaction with Leto's character went thanks to Deadshot actor Will Smith. In an interview with MTV News, Smith recollects their first experience with Mister J.

"What he did that's great is he set the bar. First, we found out that Jared wasn't going to be in rehearsal, so we were like "aww that's messed up you know, how he gonna not be in rehearsal." and then there was a bang on the door, and you know we're like who is, and this dude barges in and throws a dead pig down on the floor in front of us, and we're like oh shoot, and he said that's from Mister J."

Joker's minion wasn't done, though, and the next target was Harley Quinn actor Margot Robbie.

"And then he hands Margot a box with black roses wrapped in black, and she opens it and there's a live rat in the box. We're like okay, so Jared has officially set off the Suicide Squad. The game is on. He just went full Joker. He went full Joker (laughs)."

Full Joker indeed. That's certainly an effective way to send a message, and from reports all the method acting was worth it, as Leto's Joker is getting rave reviews from the cast.

Suicide Squad opens on August 5th.
