Both halves of the animated Batman: The Dark Knight Returns film will finally be joined together in a Deluxe Edition DVD coming in October from Warner Bros., reports Blu-Ray.com. Whether the film will be edited together into one long movie or this is just a two-disc set that contains each of the films and their own special features isn't immediately clear. According to the site, it will feature two Blu-Ray discs, a DVD and digital copies. Many fans expected that the film would eventually be collected in this way; since this is the first multi-part direct-to-video DC Universe animated feature, the prospect of a collection down the line might deter fans from investing in the single-disc versions of the movies if another, similar release plan is implemented on future films.
