One of Nippon Ichi Software's projects that's been a long time coming called Makai Wars has finally resurfaced, though it's no longer the PlayStation title that it was initially planned to be. Makai Wars has been revealed to still be in the works, only now it's coming to market in the form of a smartphone game instead.
Fans who have followed both the company's games and the history of Makai Wars will recall that the game was initially announced over 10 years
Few other announcements have emerged regarding the game, some of which included a trademark claim that kept fans' hopes alive that the game would one day be produced. One of the glimpses into the game along the way was a teaser of a character who looked a whole lot like Makai Wars' main character, Asagi but after what felt like a very long 13 years, Asagi has been confirmed to be the star protagonist in the upcoming mobile game.
As far as gameplay goes, the game looks to incorporate RPG elements with a strategy format, a style that can be seen through some of the images included here in the game's gallery. Like many fans who have waited this long would hope and expect, the characters have also been redrawn and updated to be brought up to speed on their new mobile platform. The game has been described as being a combination of the Disgaea and Yuru Dorashiru games.
For those who were still counting on some type of PlayStation release and feel slighted by the mobile format the game is planned for, all hope is not lost for the possibility of a console version.
