Star Wars: Battlefront II has a lot going for it, including the same strong multiplayer we've come to expect from the developers at DICE, along with a new single player campaign that will provide a different look at what we expect from the Empire. But, with that, the team couldn't help but look back upon the original game, which did very well for Electronic Arts, yet had its fair share of flaws.

DICE produce Craig McLeod recently spoke with the PlayStation squad about the 2015 release, which had plenty of multiplayer content to go around – but not nearly enough single player.

The feedback the team received from fans talked about the lack of that certain kind of depth they were looking for. He kept hearing complaints along the lines of "We want more breadth," and that's exactly what the team is trying to fix with the sequel.

"A lot of people found that with the original Battlefront, after a few months of play, they lacked the long-term goals," he said. "So these are the things that we are really trying to make sure we nail in this new game."

And the team has done its homework, as the sequel will not only feature that breadth with its single player, but also many expansions to multiplayer, including an in-depth progression system that allows players to build up skills with its mode, as well as a variety of characters across the original saga, as well as The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi.

No doubt it'll fill in the blanks that the original Battlefront provided, along with new modes that are coming around, including one that's set to be introduced at Gamescom, bringing vehicular combat into the fold. We're excited to see what comes from that, as well as the free content that'll be introduced over the next year for the game, which will probably be revealed over the next few months.

For now, we're waiting to see what the forthcoming beta for Star Wars: Battlefront II has to offer, as that'll give us a taste of the greatness to come.

Star Wars: Battlefront II releases on November 17th for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Origin PC.
