Mirage: Arcane Warfare Free to Own Today Only on Steam

Mirage: Arcane Warfare is totally free on Steam right now (Steam page here). This is Torn Banner Studios' magical follow-up to the cult smash-hit Chivalry: Medieval Warfare. Mirage launched with very little fanfare, despite its competency. It's a beautiful competitive game with all of the charm and challenge of Chivalry, and the emphasis on ranged combat classes adds a great layer of depth. The only issue? No one is playing. Torn Banner attempted a relaunch initiative to drum up some awareness, but the concurrent player-base is still dwindling. The studio sent out the following message on Steam:

More than anything, we're disappointed for the players who stuck by us and did buy Mirage - but who have struggled to find people to play against. We just want people to play the game we spent years making.

"We have faith that Mirage can find a larger audience still, so we're being aggressive about getting it into people's hands.

"We think Mirage is a great game, but don't take our word for it - we encourage you to check out press reviews before you commit to trying or buying. Since launch, we've added new maps, new character abilities, new features like bots, more class customization options - and we have set various patches live to continue to improve performance and player experience.

"Give it a shot while it's free! We hope to see you on the battlefield soon."

It's a bold move, and one of passion, not of desperation. Mirage really is a great game to have in your library for when you get that competitive itch.
