Walt Disney was born on December 5, 1901 in Hermosa, Chicago, Illinois. He was an American business magnate, cartoonist, and filmmaker.

Walt Disney and his staff created some of the most iconic characters in the world. Some of the characters that Walt had a hand in creating include Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, and Goofy. Walt was even the original voice of Mickey Mouse. Walt won 22 Academy Awards and four honorary Academy Awards.

Walt co-founded The Walt Disney Company with his brother Roy O. Disney. The Walt Disney Company has grown to be one of the most successful companies in the world, having recently completed acquisitions of Marvel Entertainment and Lucasfilm.

Walt opened Disneyland in California and planned the opening of Walt Disney World in Florida. Before Walt Disney World was opened though, Walt passed away.

Walt Disney died on December 15, 1966 in Burbank, California. R.I.P.
