It doesn't take much for the Internet and its relationship-pushing corner (otherwise known as "shippers") to start pushing for a couple of characters to get together. Following Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, the shippers are targeting a romance between Drax the Destroyer and, newcomer to Marvel Cinematic Universe, Mantis.

According to Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 writer/director James Gunn, the pro-Mantis/Drax crowd is going to be out of luck. Gunn played host to a spoiler-filled Q&A on Facebook live over the weekend, where he was specifically asked if romantic possibilities exist between the two Guardians.

"No. There is absolutely no romance between Mantis and Drax," Gunn said. "They are BFFs. There is nothing romantic in there. I think we make that profoundly clear in the film. For you to think there's romance between Mantis and Drax, I think you're hoping outside of what we clearly say. He's not attracted to her. Drax is attracted to very heavy set women. That's what he likes and he absolutely doesn't like Mantis."

"[Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2] about these character who are all broken angels and don't have any way of communicating with each other."

When Drax wasn't too busy telling Mantis how hideous he thought she appeared to be, the two character may have been seen sharing a touching moment which revealed the true pain Drax is constantly feeling after the loss of his family.

Speaking to Comicbook.com, Drax actor Dave Bautista shared his perspective on the touching moment the two characters shared.

"It's such an ingenious way to tell a story because Drax is so heartbroken over the loss of his family, which we touched upon in the first one, but it's so amazing that they can tell this story without Drax having to break down but through Mantis' character because her character is so beautiful and so emotional," Bautista said. "So, I think it was such an ingenious way to tell the story but not only to tell that story of Drax's heartbreak but also to build that connection between Drax and Mantis. I mean it's a really brilliant way to tell a story."

Not only is Bautista crediting James Gunn's writing and directing for the scene which adds quite a bit of depth to the pair of characters but he is quick to compliment Klementieff's acting in the scene. "I have to give credit to that scene to Pom [Klementieff] who is just an amazing actress," Bautista said. "Her range of emotions is absolutely amazing. She has a strength and that's delivering a funny line in a deadpan manner but she really has that strength, as well. Across the board, she's just really talented."
