If you have been waiting to see the newest installment of FLCL, then you don't have to wait any longer. Anime Expo 2017 promised to give fans a look at the series' second and third seasons. And, now, the first teaser trailer for FLCL's comeback has been released.

The trailer, which can be seen here, shows fans a slew of familiar faces. Naota and Haruhara Haruko are shown front-and-center as the pair reunite following their adventure in FLCL. The colorful trailer shows off Production I.G. and its fluid animation style. Plus, the trailer confirms The Pillows returned to do the comeback's soundtrack. The Japanese rock group defined the original FLCL with its aggressive beats, and fans are stoked to see the legends return.

FLCL lovers first learned the series would be getting two new seasons back in March 2016. Adult Swim announced it had partnered with Production I.G. to revive the classic series. The first season debuted in 2000, and the 6-episode romp followed a boy named Naota after meeting a woman who would change his life. Seasons two and three will also consist of 6-episodes as Adult Swim confirmed its order today. The event also confirmed the anime will begin airing in 2018.

When the late-night block announced it was bringing FLCL back to life, fans were concerned, but Adult Swim released a message reassuring fans about the revival.

"The original FLCL is an anime classic and has been a fixture on Adult Swim since we first laid eyes on it," said Jason DeMarco, senior vice president/creative director, Adult Swim On-Air in a press release. "I'm beyond thrilled to be able to produce a sequel with the original creators, for Toonami, where it belongs."

"FLCL has become an anime classic over the years, yet it has remained vibrant," said Mitsuhisa Ishikawa, co-founder, president and CEO of Production I.G. "This new season will capture the hearts of both longtime FLCL fans from around the world and new anime viewers."

FLCL series creator Kazuya Tsurumaki will return for the revival and serve as supervisor with director Katsuyuki Motohiro (Psycho-Pass) and character designer Yoshiyuki Sadamoto (Neon Genesis Evangelion). Also joining this season is writer Hideto Iwai (Last Dinner).

But why did Haruko return to Earth? What happened to her Rickenbacker 4001 she left with Naota? And where did the human-type robot 'Canti' go?

All of these questions and more will be answered in the new season of the series, which is set to premiere in late 2017/early 2018 on Adult Swim.
