Demon Slayer: Infinity Castle Movie Confirms Tanjiro’s New Power Level (& It’s a Big Upgrade)

Demon Slayer is now taking over theaters in the United States and Canada with a brand new movie, and Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle is really raising the stakes by upgrading Tanjiro Kamado to an impressive new power level. Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba has been a franchise of catching up. Tanjiro and the other members of the Demon Slayers have always been weaker than Muzan Kibutsuji and his demons in their aggressive world, so Tanjiro has been fighting tooth and nail since the start of it all for the chance of being strong enough to just survive to the next day.

But as the franchise gets closer to its potential grand finale with the release of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle, it’s also revealing a version of Tanjiro who has been fighting and training very hard all this time. While it seemed like he’s been getting stronger with each notable fight he makes it through, it’s finally set in stone with the new movie as Giyu Tomioka reveals that he believes Tanjiro has made it to a Hashira’s level of power as the two of them fight off against the Upper Three, Akaza.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba as a whole is pretty loose when it comes to a general scale of power for its characters. Because while some Hashira have seemed to be very strong in their own right like Kyojuro Rengoku, many of the fights in the series have instead been settled through tag teams or other mix ups. It’s rare that we’ll see a single fighter taking on a single opponent through the entire fight, and when we do that’s really the only time we can measure a character’s strength. So that’s something that we can do for Tanjiro especially.

It’s also something the other characters can take note of as well. Not only was Tanjiro the first one to unlock his Demon Slayer mark (before any of the Hashira), but in the film he’s clearly holding his own against Akaza. As Giyu watches Tanjiro fight, he remarks that Tanjiro’s now at the level of a Hashira as well. It’s hard to gauge whether or not that means Tanjiro is strong enough to take on future threats, but it’s a big upgrade from where he was from the very beginning of the series, or even just a season ago during the Swordsmith Village Arc.

What Does This Mean for Tanjiro’s Future?

With Tanjiro now revealed to be fighting at least on the level of a Hashira, it does bode well for his future. The film sees Tanjiro being able to successfully defeat Akaza in his big rematch with the demon, and even unlocks a new ability while doing so that will further change his fights moving forward. Tanjiro has been put under immense pressure to survive, and has been evolving as a result of all of these life or death battles to this point.

Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba Infinity Castle still has two other films to release before it comes to an end, and there might even be more in the pipeline to come after. Tanjiro has a lot of fights ahead of him, but he’s now at a level of strength where he can at least keep up with everything that happens. It’s much easier said than done with a brutal world like this one, so Tanjiro will still need to stay on his toes.
