Spoilers incoming for Batman #22 The Button part 3, so you’ve been warned.

The Flash and Batman end up in the Flashpoint universe, finally reuniting Thomas Wayne with his son Bruce. The two don’t have a ton of time to get to know each other, though, as Aquaman and Wonder Woman’s forces close in on Batman’s cave to take him out. As they fight Flash sees the world coming apart, as the unknown force holding it in place is letting it phase out of existence. Flash gets the cosmic treadmill fixed in time to escape, but Bruce wants Thomas to come along.

Thomas pushes Bruce into Flash, saying “Flash, you promised me that you’d save my son! Now do it!” Bruce reaches out, saying “We can save you!” As they disappear into the timestream, Thomas says “You have.” With that, Thomas throws aside his detonator (he had the cave rigged just in case) and pulls his cowl down as the universe dissipates around him. He recalls the time Bruce fell down into the cave for the first time, as he tells Bruce “Sometimes we fall son…but always remember…Waynes never stay down..” As he runs into the light, he yells “We rise!”, and eventually, disappears. The Flashpoint world is gone now, and it’s taken Thomas Wayne with it.

Now the duo is on their way to find out who has been meddling with the universe, and who is responsible for robbing the heroes of the missing time. It seems that confrontation will occur next week in The Flash.
