While Lewis is best known for being the funny guy next to the straight-laced persona of his comedy partner Dean Martin as well as for his comedy film career and his humanitarian work with the Muscular Dystrophy Association where he helped raise more than $2.6 billion between 1952 and 2010, the iconic comedian also has his own part of DC Comics history.
From 1952 to 1957, Lewis and Dean Martin were featured in the comic book series The Adventures of Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis. That series was followed by The Adventures of Jerry Lewis which ran from 1957 to 1971. In the series, Lewis found himself in a variety of funny situations that sometimes featured guest stars such as real-life celebrity Bob Hope and superheroes such as Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman.

“Superman Meets Jerry”
In 1968’s The Adventures of Jerry Lewis #105, the Man of Steel ended up in an unusual predicament. The hero’s costume was stolen by none other than comedian Jerry Lewis, leading to a hilarious caper of Superman trying to get his costume back while villains think that they have finally found out his secret identity as Jerry Lewis. Superman gets his costume back simply by flying around Lewis so fast that he leaves the funny man in his underpants.
“Jerry Meets Wonder Woman”
The plot of 1970’s The Adventures of Jerry Lewis #117 is, well, weird. Lewis becomes smitten with Wonder Woman (who is in her powerless Diana Prince phase) after spotting her outside a movie theater leading Wonder Woman injuring her leg, requiring a trip back to Paradise Island. Lewis, and his nephew, unwittingly end up going with her. The hijinks include Lewis drinking a mystery potion, dressing up as Wonder Woman and going to battle with a villain named Zodor to rescue her mother. A second potion lets Wonder Jerry belch fire and save the day before heading back to Man’s World. Really.
“Jerry Meets Batman”
Technically 1966’s The Adventures of Jerry Lewis #97 wasn’t the first time that the comedian had met Batman. Lewis was the very first guest star on Adam West’s 1960s television series, a realization made bittersweet as the world said goodbye to Adam West earlier this year. In the comic adventure, Lewis and his nephew decided to dress up not as Batman and Robin the Boy Wonder but as Ratman and Rotten the Boy Blunder. Unfortunately, the nephew ends up kidnapped so the real Batman and Robin have to come to the rescue.
