Five Questions Raised by the New Suicide Squad Trailer
Suicide Squad - Official Trailer #3 [HD] by comicbookdotcomIn case you missed it, Warner Bros [...]
Why is Katana on the Team?

We know why Deadshot, Harley Quinn, Killer Croc, Captain Boomerang and Slipknot are on the Suicide Squad: they're all supervillains that don't really have a choice in the matter. However, the superhero Katana will also appear in Suicide Squad and appears to be a field commander of sorts for the team. So how did a trained swordwoman with a sword that captures its victims' souls wind up working for the US Government? Is she a volunteer, or did she just team up with Suicide Squad because they're pursuing the same threat? Or did she somehow end up in prison, trying to work off her sentence like the other Suicide Squad members?
prevnextWho's Going to Be the Suicide Squad's Sacrificial Lamb?

If you've ever read a Suicide Squad comic, you know that every new story almost always begins with an early death to establish the stakes of the mission. Since Rick Flagg makes it clear that he's willing to execute team members for even the slightest disobedience, the whole team is really stuck between a rock and a very hard place. So which Suicide Squad member will be the first to die in the field? Deadshot and Harley Quinn will likely be safe until at least the end of the movie, but the rest of Suicide Squad are about as expendable as they come. Our personal guess is Slipknot, since he's in about half as many scenes as the rest of the team...plus, he dies a very quick death in the Suicide Squad comics.
prevnextWhy Are the Suicide Squad Going After the Joker?

From the looks of the trailer, the Suicide Squad's primary mission has something to do with the Joker and his heavily armed gang. We don't know if the Joker is still in Gotham, or whether he's branched out to less Batman-plagued locales, but he certainly seems well-connected...or at the very least well-armed. But why is the Squad going after Joker? Has he finally come up with a scheme large enough to bring the entire country into chaos? Or is he simply an effective test run for the Suicide Squad given his large body count and well-publicized career of deranged criminal mischief? Or maybe the Joker isn't the Suicide Squad's mission at all, but is just another obstacle for them to overcome.
prevnextHow Much Will Batman Appear?

While we've known for a while that Ben Affleck would appear in Suicide Squad as Batman, we thought it was only for a glorified cameo. From the looks of this new trailer, it appears that Batman might have a bigger role in Suicide Squad than we originally thought. So what role does Batman play in Suicide Squad and just how much screentime will he get in the movie? Is he only appearing in flashbacks (the ones presumably featuring Harley Quinn's supervillain origin) or will he be monitoring the Suicide Squad from a distance? Given that the Joker, Harley Quinn, Killer Croc and Deadshot all have history with Batman in the comics, it would be disappointing if Batman didn't have some sort of interaction with the whole team.
prevnextWhat Are Those Magic Monster Things?

If you watch carefully, you might notice Katana cutting through the head of some sort of monster during the trailer. This isn't the first time we've gotten a glimpse of the supernatural in Suicide Squad. In an earlier trailer, some sort of tentacled creature ripped through a subway, and we also saw what appeared to be some sort of portal hanging in the depths of New York's subway system. So what the heck are these things? Do they have something to do with the Enchantress, who doesn't appear to be a member of the main Suicide Squad team?
