Wonder Woman just broke another glass ceiling. The DC Extended Universe film is officially the highest-grossing superhero original movie in the United States ever, beating out Sam Raimi's Spider-Man.

The original 2002 Spider-Man film, which starred Tobey Maguire as the titular webslinger, held on to the top spot for 15-years with a total domestic take of $403.7. But as of Monday, the top spot belongs to Wonder Woman. Box Office Mojo has the film's current domestic gross sits at just over $404 million dollars and counting.

This is just the latest record Patty Jenkins' film about Diana, princess of the Amazons has broken. Wonder Woman is also the highest-grossing film ever directed by a woman, the largest domestic opening for a film directed by a woman, and is also the largest box office opening for a comic book movie featuring a female lead.

Within the DC Extended Universe franchise, Wonder Woman is the highest-grossing domestic film and the second-highest worldwide with $800 million, just behind Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. The film's success has earned it a sequel already in the works.

Wonder Woman currently has a ComicBook.com Composite Score of 84.59, the eighth highest of any comic-book movie. In Wonder Woman, before she was Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), she was Diana, princess of the Amazons, trained to be an unconquerable warrior. Raised on a sheltered island paradise, Diana meets an American pilot (Chris Pine) who tells her about the massive conflict that's raging in the outside world. Convinced that she can stop the threat, Diana leaves her home for the first time. Fighting alongside men in a war to end all wars, she finally discovers her full powers and true destiny.

Wonder Woman is directed by Patty Jenkins, with a screenplay by Allan Heinberg, from a story by Heinberg, Zack Snyder, and Jason Fuchs, and stars Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Robin Wright, Danny Huston, David Thewlis, Connie Nielsen and Elena Anaya.
