There have been a lot of NASCAR games over the year. More than you'd think for sport that involves carefully driving in a circle. Last year publisher 704Games launched NASCAR Heat Evolution, and this year, they're delivering a sequel, NASCAR Heat 2.

The NASCAR Heat series is the work of developer Monster Games, which is perhaps best-known for Nintendo racing games like Excite Truck and Excitebots: Trick Racing. Last year's NASCAR Heat Evolution garnered middling reviews, but 704 and Monster are promising the sequel will be a more polished, robust experience:

"NASCAR Heat 2, a new NASCAR racing game, will be available this year for PS4, Xbox One, and Windows PC. NASCAR Heat 2 builds on the core experience of its predecessor, NASCAR Heat Evolution, with advancements from returning developer Monster Games. These improvements include enhanced online multiplayer, a deeper career mode, track updates, additional drivers and other features in line with the 2017 NASCAR-sanctioned national series formats.

'We're excited to continue our relationship with Monster Games for NASCAR Heat 2,' said Paul Brooks, CEO of 704Games. 'This new game will have a very different look and an enhanced overall experience that reflects the insights of actual NASCAR drivers. Over the coming months, we'll announce additional new features that we believe will really excite our fans.'"

704Games are letting fans vote for NASCAR Heat 2's cover star, with Kyle Busch, Denny Hamlin, Matt Kenseth, and Martin Truex Jr. being your options. The two top vote-getters will face off in a race at Monster Energy All-Star Race on May 20. The winner of that race, gets the cover. Everybody who votes is entered to win an Xbox One, so go ahead and cast your ballot here.

NASCAR Heat 2 tears onto the PC, Xbox One, and PS4 on September 12.
