Uploaded to Gun Media’s YouTube channel on Friday with a simple title of “IV – Teaser,” the news of the Part IV Jason and a new map based on the movie’s setting were the main focuses, but players quickly pointed out how stormy the weather was in the preview. Weather effects have previously been absent from the game, but with the upcoming content, it seems that maps will soon be quitting quite a bit darker.
The reveal of another playable Jason and a fitting map follows the teaser on the game’s site in recent weeks that stated they were working on new content, a site that’s now been updated to 100 percent confirm the upcoming expansion.
Part IV Jason is on the Way
With a face that only Pamela Voorhees could love, the Part IV variation of Jason Voorhees was seen up close and personal in Gun Media’s new trailer.
Finding himself between the Jason versions from Part III and Part VI, the newest playable killer from Friday the 13th: The Final Chapter is set to have his own set of unique stats and brutal kills to set him apart from the others. What these kills and stats will include haven’t been revealed yet, but as far as weapons are concerned, players can probably expect Part IV Jason to use his signature machete to dismember Counselors.
As previously discussed by IllFonic and Gun Media, the new Jason is set to be part of a free update that’ll come alongside a new map.
Explore the Jarvis House in a New Map
Leading up to the reveal of the new Jason, the teaser trailer first showed off various aspects of a new map based on the fourth Friday the 13th movie.
Confirmed to be the Jarvis House from Part IV, the new map appears to have the large Jarvis House as what’ll likely be the largest point of interest, but another area was also previewed. It looks to be a cabin where the Counselors would hang out, so expect there to be plenty of possibilities for exploration in the new map.
The other three maps currently in the game have their own smaller variations as well, and while that hasn’t been confirmed yet for this new map, it’s a possibility if the map hasn’t already been shrunk in size.
Weather Effects are Coming to Every Map
Along with the two main focuses of the upcoming Friday the 13th: The Game content, special rain effects for each of the maps were also confirmed by the game’s Twitter account.
The map itself looked awfully rainy in the trailer, and with rain and other weather effects being a point of discussion in recent discussion after a dev diary showed an option simply titled “Rain” that included several sliders and variables to manipulate. Detailed more on the game’s site, it seems that rain, thunder, and lightning effects are all coming to each one of the game’s maps.
Whether these effects will be purely cosmetic or if they’ll affect gameplay through lighting differences or the way players control their characters remain to be seen, but more information about the effects will likely come soon.
