League of Legends might be moving a bit quicker with changes being discussed to make the matches move faster during the early game.

The starting period of League games is definitely the slowest point where players are still working on their builds and choosing their skirmishes carefully, but that might change soon, perhaps as near as during the preseason. Games have already been sped up over the course of several updates in ways such as the addition of Homeguards at the beginning of each game and the gold-generating items that allow supports to become more impactful quicker, but more speedy options are likely on the way.

Riot Meddler addressed the topic of speeding up games in a recent Gameplay Thoughts update where the Rioter talked about several topics, the last of which was the pace of League games.

"Later in the year, potentially also around pre-season, we're aiming to have some further improvements to a few things to make it quicker to get to playing the game," Meddler said regarding early game speed. "Main things we're targeting right now are trimming a bit of time before minion spawn (with faster start of game homeguards at least to still allow jungle invades) and letting teams with two picks in a row in champ select do them both at the same time again."

So if you're a player who's concerned that the quicker minion and jungle spawns might dampen your ability to make big plays before everyone sets up in their lane, you won't have to worry about losing your potential invades. Allowing players to choose a champion at the same time as a teammate during the pre-game champ select would also be a welcome change that wouldn't hurt gameplay at all. With two players on a team picking at the same time when one would usually have to pick after another, the champ select process can be sped up even more than it already is with the recent 10-ban system.

Meddler reminded players that matchmaking is also being worked on, but the early game changes are less gradual than other changes and are easier to preview individually.
