Urgot is one League of Legends champion that's scheduled to receive some buffs and quality-of-life changes within the next patch, according to details provided on the League boards.

Since his update was released, Urgot has seen most of his play in the top lane with an occasional trip into the jungle. While it's expected that a kit full of new abilities would take some time getting used to, Urgot now appears to be in a slightly weaker spot than the balance team would hope for.

A post was made on the official League boards where a player commented on Urgot's weaknesses while mentioning factors such as the cast time on his Q, Corrosive Charge, while also pointing out other disadvantages like the movement lockout at the end of his dashing Disdain. The poster did comment that damage numbers seemed fine at the moment, and it seems that Riot Games agrees with a Rioter commenting that some of the suggested changes are actually already in the works.

Below are the current changes that Urgot is scheduled for, according to a reply from Riot Repertoir:

  • If you enter W with a target locked on, they'll stay locked on for the whole W.
  • E cast lockout following missed is being reduced by ~0.35 or something.
  • R duration 3 >>> 4

The change that most new and old Urgot mains will most likely look forward to from the list is the first one, the targeting on his Purge ability. Corrosive Charge and Disdain both allow for Urgot to lock onto an enemy champion to unleash the full damage from his W, but if the ability is activated late or if the enemy steps out of the ability's radius for a brief moment, it can result in the lock-on function being cancelled. This can sometimes result in nearby minions or monsters being targeted if a champion steps back into the radius, something that's insanely frustrating for an ability that allows Urgot to make full use of his Echoing Flames passive.

At the end of Urgot's short dash, there's also a period that's regarded as a self-stun where he can't move. After flipping an enemy and activating his W, moving is exactly what Urgot needs to do, so this change will allow him to proc his passive even quicker after successfully landing abilities.

The ultimate's change is simple enough, adding one more second onto the timeframe that the ability can be reactivated. This will allow Urgot and his team to dish out one more second worth of damage to hopefully guarantee an execution and fear nearby enemies.

The changes to Urgot are expected to ship in the next patch around the same time that Ornn is released, so expect to see more of both in the top lane.
