League of Legends: Warded Ping Incoming

Communication is one of the most important things you can do within League of Legends. If you want to win your game, chances are you're going to need to have open lines of communication throughout the game. Communication can be as easy as playing with your friends over Discord or Skype or you can use text within the game. Another very easy way to coordinate with your team is with pings.

As it stands, there are four pings you can use throughout the game. On my way, danger, enemy missing and assist me. One ping that is missing though is a warded ping. How do you tell your teammates something is warded?

For League of Legends players, the ability to have a ward ping is something that you'll be privy to soon enough.

According to Meddler, League of Legends Lead Gameplay Designer, ping ward "is on its way. Odds are reasonable, though not guaranteed, it will be in the next patch or the one after."

Meddler then outlined how they would implement the ping ward into the game and offered two solutions.

Likely approach is two step:

1. We add it to the game without a key binding/ping wheel position. People can then bind it as desired. Not perfect, but lets us get it out as quickly as possible.

2. We get a better solution in the medium term that makes it more easily accessible. The ping wheel's being recoded anyway soonish (old tech) so then's the right time to look at it.

The two step approach is actually quite viable. If people care for it that much, then they'll be able to bind it immediately. If you don't care for it that much and value the other pings more, then you aren't forced to bind it to something.
