Ash's Pikachu is making its way to Pokemon Go. Earlier this morning, Pokemon Go announced it would celebrate its first anniversary by adding a new Pikachu variant to the game. This Pikachu will wear the same hat Ash Ketchum wore during the first several seasons of the Pokemon anime.

Here's a first look at what Ash Hat Pikachu will look like in the game:

Of course, fans of the Pokemon anime will remember that the hat is an official Pokemon League Expo hat, which Ash won by sending in a ton of postcards. Only 100 hats were ever made, which made the hat even more special. Ash eventually retired the hat when traveling to the Hoenn region and it hasn't been seen in the anime since.

The upcoming Pokemon movie debuted a modern version of the hat with an updated logo. However, the distinctive "L" can still be seen on Ash's new backpack in the movie.

We'll also note that we correctly predicted that Ash Hat Pikachu would appear in Pokemon Go last week.

The anniversary event will also feature a buyable "Anniversary Box" that contains Ultra Balls, Egg Incubators, Max Revives, and a Raid Pass at a discount.

Pokemon Go's anniversary event runs from today through July 24th.
