Pokemon Go Gen 3: Ice-Types Revealed
A whole new set of Pokemon are coming to Pokemon Go. While we're still probably a few months away [...]
Snorunt and Glalie
The timid, shivering Snorunt is a prime candidate to become one of Gen 3's common Pokemon, especially in areas near water where Ice-Type Pokemon seem to spawn. Snorunt evolves into Glalie, a fearsome looking floating Pokemon that resembles a floating snowball wearing a goalie mask.
Glalie isn't a particularly powerful Pokemon, although it has very balanced stats. It's marginally more powerful than Dewgong, so we doubt that it'll have much of a place in Pokemon Go's gym system. If players are looking for a cheap Ice-Type attacker, Glalie might have some use depending on its attack abilities.
That doesn't mean players should ignore Snorunt and Glalie, though. Snorunt has an alternative evolution that appears in Gen 4, so players might want to stock up on Snorunt Candies while they can.
prevnextSpheal, Sealeo, and Walrein
Pokemon Go will get its first Ice-Type Pokemon with a two tier evolution with the addition of Spheal. As its name suggests, Spheal is a portly seal-like Pokemon that looks a beach ball with flippers. It eventually evolves into Walrain, a fearsome looking Ice-Type Pokemon with massive tusks.
Walrain has the second highest Stamina stat of any Ice-Type Pokemon and will have the fifth highest Attack stat of any Ice-Type Pokemon. We see Walrain as a more offensive version of Lapras with better attack abilities, but marginally weaker defensive abilities. Depending on its moveset, Walrain could have a lot of usefulness in Pokemon Go.
prevnextRegice
Regice is one of the three Legendary Golems, massive Pokemon that were hidden throughout the Hoenn region in Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire. The Legendary Golems have always been considered somewhat of a disappointment, as they could easily be defeated by non-Legendary Pokemon.
Regice and the other Legendary Pokemon might not have much of a place in Pokemon Go. All three are known for their high defensive stats, which unfortunately can't be properly utilized as Legendary Pokemon aren't allowed to defend gyms. And while Regice will have the highest CP of any Ice-Type Pokemon in Pokemon Go, its Attack and Stamina stats are comparable to a Pokemon like Piloswine...which isn't exactly known as a top tier attacker.
